Resilient People (Part 4) – Strategy and execution
You may remember from one of my previous posts – I am a strong believer in strategies and strategy execution. A strategy provides direction, and direction is what leaders must provide. The organization does expect leadership which includes guidance.
However, we all know the moment we finalize a strategy we know this strategy will not get executed as planned. Life is complex, and even on this tiny planet, there are around eight billion people. In average a person has about 60-80,000 thoughts per day, a huge number and the result of having a brain and being alive. Consequently, there are between 480 and 660 trillion thoughts around. Every single day. Some of the thoughts will lead to actions, and we may no longer wonder how different actions may be even in a comparable cultural context.
Resilient people understand the logic of many people having many thoughts leading to many activities which are not at all aligned. The advantage of working as a larger group of people following a certain strategy will add value, but the flexibility to give up a plan and to act accordingly to a given situation is relevant, too. Not losing focus makes a difference, and dealing with interruptions, too. Build in time in your day for the unplannable, the interruption and turbulences will be a relevant element of resilience.
Strategy and execution will be components to support a great future. Feel invited to ask for support.
