Innovation may start where value gets added and solutions go beyond the actual status quo
Hungry for Innovation?
Our world is hungry for innovation. However, innovation is not the best-defined word in our portfolio of terms. Innovation comes from “innovare” (lat.), the word meaning renew. The ISO norm 56000:2020 bridges innovation with value: Innovation is a new or changed entity, realizing, or redistributing value. And now?
Maybe different to our gut feeling, innovation is connected to commercial value, not to an invention. An innovation not necessarily must be new, it may be a changed approach, add a different perspective or flavor.
When organizations are crying for innovation, they often look at the CTO or the development department. However, innovation must come in cooperation with sales. To be innovative, a company does not need own development activities. depending on the subject it may be relevant to have access to developers, but it´s not a must have.
When you intend to become innovative, it´s worth the effort to understand how to do so. Highly innovative services became developed in the past by service companies using inventions done elsewhere. Feel invited to start a dialogue here.
