Business Punk (Part 3) Artwork
Quite some successful people are collecting fine arts. Is it because of their wealth or do they get wealthy because of their way of thinking? Fritz P. Mayer, a German entrepreneur who is a collector of contemporary art once said: “I believe that one always needs to be busy with other things so that one is constantly able to take on different perspectives – that’s why I started collecting art. You must deal with completely different things to learn. That was a purely objective reason for me to get involved with art.”
There´s (besides sports) nearly no other discipline people debate with so much emotion like art: Old masters, Basquiat, Banksy, street art, museum art, western art, Asian art, comics… …you name it. What they all have in common is a perspective different to ours. Music may be training for the ear while art is training for the eyes.
Russel Herron allowed me to use this picture. He can give wasted cart-board a face and in his drawings a second life. His way of looking to waste is different to others, and we cannot only learn from him how much fun is in a used cardboard but as well how he translates his work in just two dimensions.
Changing perspectives will allow us to see more than just one dimension. The vehicle may differ, but the need is real. What is your experience with changing perspectives?
